We recently joined Westinghouse Electric Company and more than 40 other nuclear supply chain partners in Washington D.C. for the second AP1000® Congressional Fly-In. Our mission? To highlight how proven nuclear technology and a ready-now supply chain can support America’s growing energy needs.
We were represented at the event by Bill Cronauer, our Director of Sales – Americas, and Ken Lazzara, Global Commercial Director for our Copes-Vulcan brand. They met with members of the U.S. Congress alongside other Westinghouse suppliers to discuss the economic, manufacturing and workforce benefits associated with deploying additional AP1000 nuclear reactors in the United States and overseas.
During the discussions, industry leaders emphasised the important role advanced nuclear technology can play in delivering reliable, affordable clean energy while supporting long-term economic growth and energy security. For example, a ten-unit AP1000 fleet would generate sufficient electricity to power more than eight million U.S. homes annually. According to independent research shared by Westinghouse, deployment of such a fleet could support 43,000 U.S. jobs annually during construction, create 22,500 long-term operational jobs and contribute more than $1 trillion to U.S. GDP over its lifetime.
With more than sixty years of experience supporting the global nuclear industry, we contributed insights into the importance of maintaining a strong domestic nuclear supply chain and developing the skilled workforce needed to support future new-build projects. We also highlighted the role our Houston and Burlington facilities could play in supporting AP1000 deployment through the manufacture and lifecycle support of critical nuclear pumps and valves.
“The discussions in Washington reinforced the importance of having a strong and experienced nuclear supply chain ready to support new-build projects,” said Bill Cronauer. “Our engineering expertise and nuclear-accredited manufacturing facilities position us to help deliver the reliable flow control technologies needed for the next generation of AP1000 deployment.”
Ken Lazzara added: “Continued investment in nuclear new-build projects is essential to retaining critical engineering and manufacturing expertise across the industry. Programs like AP1000 help create opportunities for skilled workers while strengthening domestic energy security and economic growth.”
As the only fully licensed, construction-ready advanced Gen III+ reactor operating in the United States today, AP1000 technology continues to gain momentum as utilities and policymakers look for scalable solutions to rising energy demand. At Celeros FT, we remain committed to supporting the global nuclear industry with engineered flow control solutions that help plants operate safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout their lifecycle.
